Many of the Lafond Winery Wines are produced only in small lots but unlike Santa Barbara Winery, where the small lots are from various and sometimes unusual grapes, these are mostly lots of exceptional Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay grapes. Some entirely from a particular clone that wine maker, Bruce McGuire, considers exceptional and should be kept separate. These small lots may vary from year to year but Bruce has established, from experience over time, blocks in the vineyard that he refers to as A, B and C, differentiated, for the most part, by soil quality and vigor.
