Today marks the beginnings of one of Santa Barbara’s greatest community traditions – Old Spanish Days Fiesta. During this five day celebration (August 5-9 2009) we celebrate the rich cultural heritage that Santa Barbara has. The celebration is captured through vibrant parades, pulsating crowds, Spanish and Mexican foods served in the open air De La Guerra market, dancing, and restablishing the cultural identity.
Costumes, colorfully intricate masks, confetti-filled eggs and downtown decorations transform Santa Barbara into an outdoor arena for all to come out and play. Mercado De La Guerra takes place daily from daytime and into the evening. La Fiesta Pequena officially opens Old Spanish Days on the steps of the historic Santa Barbara Mission. To see a full list of the downtown festivities visit the official Old Spanish Days website.
As a winery, this will be our 47th year as a member of the local community.
